Membership - Responsibilities
Upon joining the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN), member institutions commit to the following responsibilities.
When Applying for Membership
After Submitting an Application
Eligible institutions will receive a username and password allowing them to customize their presence in the Virtual Museum of Canada (VMC) to promote their collections and increase their visibility online.
Once eligible institutions have submitted an application:
- All institutions must complete entries through the Your Institution and Your Events online entry forms. These entries are a membership requirement.
The information provided through Your Institution and Your Events is made public through the Museums in Canada and Teachers’ Centre sections of the VMC. A complete entry includes institution and collection descriptions, as well as events/exhibit information. Entries in Your Institution and Your Events must be updated on a regular basis. Members are strongly encouraged to provide images in order to enhance their entries.
