- Thank you for your interest in CHIN. Please read our linking policy for more detail on how you can link to CHIN and/or how you can request CHIN to link to your Web site.

CHIN recommends that links to the CHIN website:
- Point to a page on our website that is relevant (adding value) to your page, on your website. The subject or theme of your page should be the same as the page on our website to which you are pointing.
- Use entirely or partially (theme of our Web page) the text in the Title element of the selected Web page as anchor text on your website.
- Use entirely the text in the Title element of the selected Web page as ALT text when using our graphic banner(s).
Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) grants a nonexclusive, limited permission ("Permission") to the owners of any website who place a text link containing our domain name or text in the Web page Title element or a link containing the graphic banner(s) below on their site ("Owners") to display our trademark(s) contained in our domain name and the graphic banner(s) below, to develop a link between their site and www.rcip-chin.gc.ca.
Links to, other than a text link containing our domain name or text in the Web page Title element or CHIN’s Widget or RSS feeds or a link containing the graphic banner(s) below are forbidden.
Also:
- No change or modification to the domain name or graphic banner(s) may be made.
- The material on the Owner's site shall not imply any association with or relation to CHIN and CHIN’s websites or imply in any way that any material from http://www.rcip-chin.gc.ca are maintained within Owner's website.
- The domain name and graphic banner(s) must not be used or associated with any obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic, indecent, profane, defamatory or unlawful site or material in any way, or in any manner that would adversely affect the name, reputation and goodwill of Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) and its websites
- CHIN shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, liability or expense that may accompany or result from your use of the link, domain name or proposed graphic banner(s) and/or widget and/or RSS feeds, including but not limited to any computer virus; technical, hardware or software failures of any kind; lost or unavailable network connections; or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmission.
- The granting of this Permission does not indicate nor should it be construed in any way to represent an endorsement by CHIN of any materials on a website containing our domain name or graphic banner(s) or any other intellectual property.
- A request from the VMC to remove the link must be complied with at all times.
- CHIN may, at any time, revise this Linking Policy. You are bound by any such revisions and should therefore periodically visit this page to review the then-current Linking Policy to which you are bound.
- The display of any of our domain names and the graphic banner(s) containing our trademark(s) on the website indicates the agreement by the website owner to the foregoing terms and conditions.

Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) will only evaluate link requests that meet the following criteria
The website:
- Does not contain content that certain visitors may consider offensive.
- Contains sufficient professional, educational, heritage or cultural content.
- Complies with the laws of Canada, including all relevant privacy, human rights and labour legislation.
- Is highly relevant to the CHIN selected Web page and allows visitors to further explore a chosen CHIN topic.
- Is available in both English and French – if the site is not available in both languages, clearly state which language is offered.
- Explores Canada's diverse cultural heritage.
Links to international sites may be included if they are deemed relevant to Canadian visitors.
Link requests may be refused, or approved links may be removed from the CHIN without notice, for failure to comply with the above criteria, or for any other appropriate reasons, including:
- site navigation problems;
- frequent client complaints;
- any change in site orientation that makes it irrelevant or offensive.
Preference will be given to websites that provide uninterrupted, free access to users.
Links to commercial websites that are not those of CHIN members, sponsors and partners, or CHIN content contributors, may be established, provided that the sites have useful, relevant information freely available to users.
